Intake

   

     Taylor Currell Stein was born in Frederick, Oklahoma on May 21, 1953.

He moved to Lawton with his family in 1957 and has lived here ever since.

He received a BA degree in Political Science in 1975 and a Juris Doctorate

degree in 1978 from the University of Tulsa College of Law.

 

     Mr. Stein returned to Lawton and was in private practice from 1978 through

1987. While in private practice Mr. Stein practiced in the area of criminal law,

 family law, insurance defense, wrongful discharge, civil rights, and bankruptcy.

In 1988 he went to work for the Comanche County District Attorney’s Office

as an Assistant District Attorney where he remained until 2002.

 

     While in the District Attorney’s office he advised Comanche County elected

 officials in civil matters including several trials in the United States District Court

for the Western District if Oklahoma in Section 1983 civil rights matters, auto

negligence and sexual harassment . Later, Mr. Stein transferred to the felony

division where he handled felony criminal prosecuting and trials.

 

     In July 2002 he was appointed Special District Judge in and for Comanche

County, Oklahoma where his responsibilities included felony criminal preliminary

 hearings, initial appearances in all criminal cases, domestic protective orders,

small civil, landlord tenant issues and the occasional wedding.

 

     Mr. Stein returned to private practice in 2007 where his practice currently

emphasizes family law, criminal, bankruptcy and personal injury.
